Watch an Embarrassed Dave Grohl Listen to a Demo of the First Song He Ever Wrote and Recorded

A new outtake from Dave Grohl’s 2014 documentary miniseries Sonic Highways has surfaced, and it features a never-before-heard Grohl recording. As a dramatic ticker below the video notes, “Gods Look Down” was the first song Grohl ever wrote and recorded, and also the first track he recorded in famed Seattle studio The Laundry Room, where Nirvana also worked. (Another studio version of Grohl’s song was released on the final album of Grohl’s former band in the late ’80s, Scream.)

Watch the clip, featuring an embarrassed Grohl revisiting the original 8-track tapes in the studio with Laundry Room owner and producer Barrett Jones, below via the studio’s YouTube channel.
