Professional rock ‘n’ roll gentle boy Mac DeMarco has announced his fifth studio album, This Old Dog, and shared a pair of lead singles that sound like nursery rhymes: “My Old Man” and “This Old Dog.”
Both singles find DeMarco incorporating more synthesizer than in the past, but acoustic guitar and DeMarco’s own raspy, honeyed croon are still most prominent. According to a press release quote from DeMarco, “The majority of this album is acoustic guitar, synthesizer, some drum machine, and one song is electric guitar. … This is my acoustic album, but it’s not really an acoustic album at all. That’s just what it feels like, mostly. I’m Italian, so I guess this is an Italian rock record.”
