Chance the Rapper Will Speak at a Post-Inauguration NAACP Event in D.C.

The Youth and College division of the NAACP has announced a “People’s Inauguration” rally on January 21 in Washington, D.C., and named Chance the Rapper as the event’s first confirmed speaker. Organizers are billing the event—which will be held at D.C.’s Howard University at 9:00 a.m.—as “a gathering of youth activists.”

Here is a fuller description:

The rally will re-unite allies and partners who helped register thousands of new and young voters during the 2016 election with the goal to launch a new era of activism and protest against potential threats from the presidency of Donald J. Trump. During the meeting, attendees will begin collaborating to unite together and stand for a progressive policy agenda in the coming months and years.

The statement dubs the future initiative #StayWokeandFight, and links to a website devoted to its event. It advertises a “People’s Inauguration Ball,” scheduled for January 20 at 7:00 p.m., but no location has yet been listed.
