Earlier this year, ’90s alt-rock supergroup Temple of the Dog—Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam—announced a five-city reunion tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their only album. The first show took place last night at the Tower Theater just outside Philadelphia.
For their first official reunion since the release of their 1991 album, Temple of the Dog played a 23-song set including covers of songs by David Bowie (“Quicksand”), Harry Nilsson (“Jump Into the Fire”), Led Zeppelin (“Achilles Last Stand”), the Cure (“Fascination Street”), and Black Sabbath (“War Pigs”). The show also included a handful of songs originally by Ament and Gossard’s former band, Mother Love Bone.
