With gossamer vocals backed by haunting synthesizers, Alexandra Stewart’s Brooklyn-based pop project ACES sounds like a heady trip to the moon. On their latest single “If I Could Be Your Girl,” ACES’ cosmic sound bolsters her reflection on identity, change, and an earnest romance. (“I’m talking to you clearly / but you’re clearly killing me,” one line goes.) “This is the true ACES getaway track,” Stewart told SPIN by email. “Maybe I’ve been reading my horoscope a bit too much but this song is all about being honest with yourself and embracing change.”
