Dave Chappelle to Host, A Tribe Called Quest to Play SNL on November 12

NBC has announced that Dave Chappelle will host next week’s episode of Saturday Night Live with A Tribe Called Quest as the music guests. The show comes the night after ATCQ is scheduled to drop their final album, We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service.

A Tribe Called Quest, who performed last year on The Tonight Show in what was their first televised performance in over 15 years, have been working on their new album while mourning the death of founding member Phife Dawg from diabetes-related complications. Phife was able to record some vocals for the upcoming LP, though, so he will appear on the album, alongside fellow Tribe members Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White. The record will also feature contributions from a few guests: André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, Jack White, and Busta Rhymes.

Chappelle has been keeping busy this year with the occasional live appearance, including one at last month’s Roots Picnic and a few stand-up shows. His upcoming Saturday Night Live gig will be his hosting debut on the iconic sketch show.
