Swedish singer Tove Lo has just dropped her new single “Cool Girl,” and it’s got just the right amount of indulgence (the hook is mostly just, “I’mma cool girl”) to potentially be a late summer hit. Those tired of pop music’s ongoing dancehall appropriation, rejoice: The synth riff that propels the chorus has the elastic iciness of Winterfresh gum.
Tove Lo has recently been spending her time as a feature artist, appearing on Nick Jonas’ “Close” and Flume’s “Say It.” She’s been working on the follow-up to her 2014 debut Queen of the Clouds, which doesn’t have a release date yet. For now, give “Cool Girl” a listen below.
