Mick Jenkins Announces ‘The Healing Component’ Release Date, Drops New Single ‘Spread Love’

This year has been a notable breakthrough year for many of Chicago’s artists, with Jamila Woods, Chance the Rapper, and Joey Purp getting some of the national spotlight. This fall, it will be Mick Jenkins’ turn. After dropping four mixtapes and an EP, the Chicago lyricist will release his debut album, The Healing Component, on September 23.

The release date announcement comes with the new single “Spread Love,” produced by Sango of Seattle. Jenkins flow is as smooth as the aquatic instrumental that buttresses him; he flips between rapid-fire rhyming and sing-song for a simple message: “If you’re hatin’ nigga don’t / Spread love.”

Jenkins will also head on a 12-city North American tour entitled “A Quest for Love,” presented by Red Bull Sound Select. He’ll be hitting the road with St. Louis rapper Smino.

Tour tickets are available for $3 with an RSVP. Look at the tour dates — and, of course, listen to “Spread Love” — below.
