Jenny Hval has described her forthcoming album Blood Bitch as inspired by blood and ’70s horror and exploitation films, and her new video for “Conceptual Romance” marries just those things. There’s interpretive dancing in the wilderness, quite a bit of fake blood, and some don’t-try-this-at-home games with plastic sheeting.
At one point, each of the video’s stars don painted “skin suits” and pose for photos. It all seems like the kind of thing a coven of art students at a haunted boarding school might get up to on the weekend. Blood Bitch is out September 30 from Sacred Bones. Watch “Conceptual Romance” below.
