Hudson Mohawke and James Blake Are Having a Beef

In the latest round of He Said, She Said (well, in this case it would be He Said, He Said), electronic standouts Hudson Mohawke and James Blake appear to be having a bit of a social-media beef.

It’s stupidly complicated, so let’s start here: A few days back, HudMo responded to a fan tweet asking for joint HudMo and James Blake music. He wrote, “We demo’d a few as well as Frank O n myself but I can’t get into anymore trouble for leaks.” Then he hedged, “None of this music is confirmed as ever seeing the light of day n im not gona leak anything.”

Blake, however, denied working with HudMo, writing on Twitter: “As talented as I think he is, I’ve never worked with Hudson Mohawke and don’t know what he’s talking about. I’m respectfully baffled.”

On Sunday, HudMo (again) clarified his comments, tweeting: “Maybe need to clarify few things here…James tried a few things with some insts of mine for my last record but didn’t come to anything.”

“Frank and I worked together on some things but didn’t really come to anything either. That’s why I left those tweets up though.” And again, he wrote that he wasn’t sure his work with either artist would ever be released. “As I said doubt anything will see the light of day cos both were a few years ago now. Would be amazing if they did tho. Anywaysssss all good.”

Was it all good, though? HudMo returned to Twitter to publish a screencap of an email between himself and Blake.

To which Blake responded, with a note thanking God that he and HudMo never did release anything together.

As you can see, HudMo thinks this situation has “blown way out of proportion.” We agree.
