On their way to dropping music videos for all of Love You to Death, Tegan and Sara are back with one for the Greg Kurstin-produced “BWU.” Sara, taking the role of serial park proposer, takes to one knee several times during the clip only to reveal nothing but a ring-less, albeit lovely, red velvet box before her many conquests. Director Clea DuVall‘s visuals bring Sara’s nontraditional thoughts on marriage to life:
“I was happy when the Supreme Court ruling legalized same sex marriage in the U.S.A.,” Sara Quin told EW. “But I was also relieved that I could finally ‘come out’ as a person who actively dislikes the institution—specifically the assumption that by not participating in the ritual you are a deviant or unlikely to share the same common values as someone who does.”
