A law enforcement official has confirmed that Prince died of an opioid overdose, according to the Associated Press. Although an overdose had been investigated in the weeks after his death, this marks the first official confirmation.

On April 21, Prince was found unresponsive inside an elevator at his Paisley Park compound. He was pronounced dead at 57 years old later that morning. SPIN will update as more information becomes available.
