Last week, Angel Olsen shared a cryptic, unnamed video and song, which we later learned was called “Intern.” Now Olsen has confirmed that the song will in fact be part of the follow-up to 2014’s Burn Your Fire for No Witness. Titled No Woman, her new record will drop on September 2 via Jagjaguwar and was produced by Justin Raisen.
In a press release, Olsen says the album addresses themes about “the complicated mess of being a woman. … I’m definitely using scenes that I’ve replayed in my head, in the same way that I might write a script and manipulate a memory to get it to fit. But I think it’s important that people can interpret things the way that they want to.”
