The Amazing Anticipate a Temperate Summer With the Chilly ‘Ambulance’

Swedish indie quintet The Amazing offered one of 2015’s most gorgeous rock records with the hushed, autumnal sweep of Picture You — the rare album to make intimacy sound grandiose, and vice versa. The band picks up where they left off with “Ambulance,” title track to their upcoming fourth LP, which returns the echoing harmonies, endlessly ringing guitars, and pillowy-but-sturdy drums of their last effort, while throwing in some weeping mellotron to the mix for extra heartstring-pulling. The song’s undertow is incredible, as gently overwhelming as a pit of quicksand.

“I wanted this record to be more bare, more grey,” Amazing singer-songwriter Christoffer Gunrup says of the new album. “It does not sound happy.” Good to know. Listen here, and shut out the summer with Ambulance on July 22, courtesy of Partisan Records.
