Fetty Wap Gets Real For a Minute on New Track ‘My Environment’

Reigning SPIN Rookie of the Year Fetty Wap shared a new song on his SoundCloud last night. “My Environment” is a four minute track built on a spitting trap beat with some glowing synths and booming bass. Despite that description, though, the song is an unusually reflective one for the New Jersey rapper, Fetty rapping continuously about his life and his roots, almost like a freestyle. “I do this for my young niggas,” he attests on the closest thing the song has to a refrain. ‘Coz where we from, all we know is our environment / And you can’t change what’s understood / And if it’s all good, then it’s all good / I’ma rep my hood.”

Listen here, and (maybe) look out for “Fetty Wap, Pt. 2… or whatever the f**k we’re gonna call this” — as the MC rambles on the outro — sometime soon.
