Download Kendrick Lamar’s New Album, ‘untitled unmastered.’

The eight-track follow-up to last year's 'To Pimp a Butterfly' is out now

Update: TDE label head Anthony Tiffith has confirmed via Twitter that a physical release of Kendrick Lamar’s untitled unmastered. is coming.

Update: Kendrick Lamar explained in a Tweet that the songs on untitled unmastered. are “demos from To Pimp A Butterfly,” and that they are “in raw form,” along with an iTunes link.

Kendrick Lamar just released a new album called untitled unmastered.

Collecting eight tracks that are untitled and, presumably, unmastered, the new project comes more or less a full year after Lamar released his masterpiece third album, To Pimp a Butterfly, which SPIN dubbed the Best Album of 2015. The new songs’ names all feature the word “untitled,” a number, and then a date — for example, “untitled 04 08.14.2014″ and “untitled 05 09.21.2014.” Producers on the LP are mostly unknown, although Swizz Beatz noted on Instagram that his 5-year-old son with Alicia Keys, Egypt, apparently produced “untitled 07 l 2014 – 2016.”

News of the surprise record leaked on Thursday night, when Spotify accidentally uploaded details about the album hours before it was officially available for streaming and purchase.

Earlier this week, Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony Tiffith teased a slate of new music from the label, including a record by Lamar. After the specifics about untitled unmastered. made their way online, Tiffith confirmed the release on Instagram and said fans could thank LeBron James, who tweeted at Tiffith after Lamar’s stellar performance at the Grammys and pleaded for him to release the untitled song that the rapper debuted onstage that night. Before last month’s Grammys ceremony (which saw Lamar collect several awards for Butterfly), the Compton rapper performed other untitled tracks on The Colbert Report and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
