Woods Peer Uneasily Into the Future on ‘Can’t See At All’

Brooklyn psych-folklorists Woods can’t stop pumping out music. Since their debut in 2006, the band has released eight full-lengths, and then some. Back in January, they released the first single off their upcoming ninth LP, City Sun Eater in the River of Light, and now we have another look into the record with “Can’t See At All.” This second single off their approaching ten-track release, set to drop April 8 via their own label, Woodsist, takes a slightly different turn than “Sun City Creeps.” Lead singer Jeremy Earl’s reassuringly warm falsetto belies funkier signs of what’s to come — a church organ radiating through the chorus as  twangy guitar licks and a tambourine’s steady shake steady the track’s backbone. Though lyrics of inevitable change and doubt like “Your replacement waits outside” and “Will I be here for you?” circle like birds of omen through the song, it’s still a pretty happy, relaxing jamboree.
