Violent Femmes Share a New ‘Memory’ and an Old ‘Blister’ on ‘Colbert’

Milwaukee college-rock greats Violent Femmes appeared on Late Show With Stephen Colbert last night to perform “Memory,” the trio’s latest single, from their upcoming comeback album We Can Do Anything. Then, in a web exclusive, the group gears back up to play one of the most beloved songs  in alt-rock history — intro’d by Colbert as “a song I’ve played a thousand times, and I can’t wait to hear a thousand more” — 1983’s “Blister in the Sun.” After leading an audience singalong on the classic, the Femmes invite Stephen himself to sing the breakdown section on more time, and he happily obliges.

Watch the two performances here, and look for We Can Do Anything on March 4.
