Max Martin Gives a Rare Interview as 2016 Recipient of Sweden’s Polar Music Prize

Swedish super-producer and pop legend in the making, Max Martin, has been named the recipient of this year’s Polar Music Prize, awarded in the hit-maker’s home country for “international recognition of excellence in the world of music.” That alone isn’t the angle here, though: In receiving the award, Martin gave an onscreen interview for what seems like the first time in years. Hearing the man behind such hits as “…Baby One More Time” — and, more recently, Selena Gomez’s “Hands To Myself” and Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” — speak on his legacy is a treat in itself, as he’s been incredibly private in his thoughts since becoming one of the world’s biggest, go-to pop stars behind the scenes.

Besides that, the video package features new interviews with Britney Spears, Pink, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys, and more. If you’re a pop-fan, it’s a rare, must-watch glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of the hit factory — watch below.
