Dave Grohl Covers the Beatles for Oscars’ In Memoriam Montage

Following sets from Best Original Song nominees the Weeknd and Sam Smith, Dave Grohl made a special appearance at the 2016 Academy Awards, covering the Beatles’ “Blackbird” during the show’s In Memoriam segment. Performing solo with an acoustic guitar, the Foo Fighters frontman was accompanied by the show’s symphony orchestra. David Bowie, who acted in films like Labyrinth (1986) and The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), was also thoughtfully included in the segment. Watch below.
