Music and politics have a mutually beneficial — albeit occasionally uneasy — relationship

It was Vampire Weekend’s first performance in nearly two years, and the first minus founding member Rostam Batmanglij, who announced his departure from the band last week. During their performance, frontman Ezra Koenig and drummer Chris Thompson were joined by Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth and the University of Iowa a capella group, the Hawkapellas, who performed “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa,” “Unbelievers,” and a rendition of “This Land is Your Land” (sung with Sanders himself).
