Coldplay Are a Buncha Apes in Animated New ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ Video

After going ape at the AMAs, Coldplay have finally shared the chimpanzee-filled video for “Adventure of a Lifetime,” off of their upcoming album A Head Full of Dreams. At first the CGI chimpanzees are just hanging out, doing ape stuff in the jungle until they find a (very, very clearly branded) Beats Pill speaker in the dirt. The discovery is like something out of a musical version of 2001: A Space Odyssey’s opening scene. The chimps become a well-choreographed band, and begin to look a little like Coldplay. One wears Jonny Buckland’s green hat while another has Chris Martin’s uncanny blue eyes. Frankly, it’s all a little upsetting. Check it out below.

Coldplay have also shared a new track from the upcoming album, “Everglow,” featuring (gasp!) Gwyneth Paltrow. You may remember that Martin and the Iron Man actress/Goop curator had a “conscious uncoupling” last year, so the presence of her faint, spoken word backing vocals is especially moving. And a little odd. Stream it below. A Head Full of Dreams drops on December 4.
