Watch Work + Play: Mainland

We’ve teamed up with Gibson and Tiger Beer to bring you the SPIN Work + Play video series.

In this episode, dreamy rock trio, Mainland, tells us tales of working late night at the Bowery hotel, walking up six flights of stairs with wicker chairs in suspenders and ties, and of the precarious balance that comes with being an artist in New York City and needing to make rent.

Regardless of their monetary concerns that come across as they sing us lyrics such as, “pretty girls don’t pay the rent” and “wake up every day just to waste my paycheck,” the band still manages to have fun on the road and to weave in between the world of work and the world of play pretty seamlessly.

Watch them light up our studio and shed some wisdom in the video. Be sure to check out their newly released single “Not As Cool As Me,”and keep up on the Work + Play series to watch your favorite artists visit the SPIN office to play a few songs and reveal their craziest job experiences along their way to fame.
