David Bowie Will Reportedly Release New Album, ‘Blackstar,’ in January

arrives at the 11th Annual Webby Awards at Chipriani Wall Street on June 5, 2007 in New York City.

Update: David Bowie’s website confirms that a new album called Blackstar will indeed be released on January 8. A single by the same name will be released on November 20, contrary to the times report. The website also notes that “reporting on the sound and content of the album” was “inaccurate,” with no further clarification.

David Bowie’s musical career has always been a bit touch-and-go in recent years, with fans wondering if they’d ever hear new music from the legendary singer following the release of his 2013 LP, The Next Day. Never fear, though: the Starman will reportedly return in January of 2016 with his 25th album, Blackstar, a project recorded in New York City’s Magic Shop with jazz musicians.

Per The Times of London, the seven-track effort will be released on January 8 — Bowie’s 69th birthday, no less — and “he’s made an album of long, jazzy jams mixed with the kind of driving beat pioneered by Seventies German bands Can and Kraftwerk.”

The title track also serves as the theme music for the European crime series The Last Panther. Listen below (the full song’s out November 19, according to The Times), and prepare yourself for the 25th Coming of David Bowie.
