Singer/songwriter Courtney Barnett, will make her Austin City Limits debut this weekend, and she’s been previewing some songs from her set over the last couple of days. Yesterday Stereogum shared Barnett’s cover of her “favorite song,” Australian band You Am I’s 1998 single “Heavy Heart.” Today she’s premiering her thrashing performance of her 2013 single “Avant Gardener,” from her double EP, A Sea Of Split Peas, and anchored by gritty guitars, the 27-year-old sails through the stream of consciousness lyrics with a collected cool.
