Following the runaway success of N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, Universal is reportedly looking to cash in on the hip-hop biopic formula again with a film about Def Jam records. According to Deadline, that movie would be based on Russell Simmons and Nelson George’s book about the label Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money, + God, and would star Michael B. Jordan as Simmons and Jonah Hill as the label’s famous producer Rick Rubin. No deals have been finalized with either actor.
