Kacey Musgraves just released the music video for her Pageant Material album closer, “Are You Sure,” a hidden track that doubles as a duet with one of her idols, Willie Nelson. It finds both country stars sitting at opposite ends of a bar as Musgraves’ touring band plays behind her, the entire affair shrouded in a hazy pink filter.
When SPIN sat down with Musgraves back in June, she was days await from shooting the video. “. I really am a big fan of nostalgic hidden tracks,” she said of “Are You Sure” and its video. “It was something I was a big fan of growing up. So I thought, Willie Nelson is an artist that’s an album artist. He’s not a single artist. I don’t consider myself like that either so I thought this was a really nice, special moment and a treat for the people who make it to the very end of the record. Like, the record is over and slowly this western world — a kind of hazy, stoned-sounding western world — arises as a surprise at the end.”
