Foo Fighters Brought Out Jewel to Cover Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’

The cast of guests on Foo FightersSonic Highways tour grows larger by the day, but Friday night’s show in Phoenix, Arizona brought out an unexpected pal. Toward the end of their set, Dave Grohl introduced Jewel, and said they’d been planning on performing “some nice thing [they] thought would sound good.” Instead, she decided she wanted the band to launch into an unrehearsed rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”

The downfall of so many Zep covers is that the singer can never really catch up to Robert Plant’s careening performances, but Jewel does, especially at the song’s burned out high notes in the final minutes. Watch fan-shot footage of the performance here.
