Tyler, the Creator Cancels Australian Tour Due to Complaints From Feminist Group

Tyler, the Creator
performs onstage during day 2 of the 2015 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival (Weekend 2) at The Empire Polo Club on April 18, 2015 in Indio, California.

It has been confirmed that rabble-rousing (former?) Odd Future leader Tyler, the Creator is in fact canceling his tour dates in Australia amidst his own previous allegations via Twitter that he had been banned from entering the country. The rapper had been the target of a campaign by feminist group Collective Shout in 2013 to have his visa and shows canceled due to his misogynist lyrics (for just a taste of his threatening lyrics toward women, 2011’s “Tron Cat,” from the polarizing Goblin, contained the missive “Rape a pregnant bitch and tell my friends I had a threesome”).

A statement on Facebook from Tyler’s touring company Frontier Touring confirms that Australia has not banned him; rather, it was his own decision to cancel the dates because, “We would much rather come to Australia when it isn’t surrounded in controversy.” He added, “I love my fans there and hopefully I’ll be back soon. Don’t do drugs.”
