Battles are releasing their follow-up to 2011’s Gloss Drop next month, and they’ve just shared a new single from the upcoming instrumental LP, La Di Da Di. “The Yabba” is a nearly 7-minute-long odyssey of electronic tweaks and blips with an ever-changing current of evolving, intricate synths. Like most of the math-rock outfit’s music, “The Yabba” manages to venture off on some sonically unexpected paths while still seeming cohesively trance-like.
