Omar Souleyman’s New LP ‘Bahdeni Nami’ Is Streaming Now

<> at Oslo Spektrum on December 11, 2013 in Oslo, Norway.

Omar Souleyman‘s latest collection of imminently danceable Syrian folk songs Bahdeni Nami is due for release next week on Modeselektor‘s label Monkeytown, and today its streaming in advance thanks to NPR. This one’s largely similar to the veritable torrent of music that Souleyman has released to date, with the added wrinkle of production help from his new label head and a crew of similarly minded dance producers.

Four Tet, who handled the boards on 2013’s Wenu Wenu, returns for a track, and Gilles Peterson, Legowelt and, curiously, the Black Lips all help out. Most however leave Souleyman’s tracks intact, which is great, because they’re always a treat on their own. Listen here before its July 24 release.
