Chris Cornell Will Embrace a ‘Higher Truth’ on September Solo LP

After spending a couple of years with Soundgarden as his main priority, Chris Cornell appears set to return attention to his solo work in the coming months. Today, he’s announced that he’ll release Higher Truth, his first solo record since 2009’s Timbaland-produced Scream, on September 18. Rolling Stone reports that Brendan O’Brien, who mixed Soundgarden’s Superunknown, produced the record. Little else is known about the album at this point, but, perhaps tellingly, the lengthy tour that Cornell is plotting in the wake of the album is being billed as an “acoustic” jaunt.
