The announced lineup of this year’s Bonnaroo Superjam was already as stacked as years past, but the event went down Saturday night and it turned out to be even more special than the list of guests would suggest. As Billboard reports, the Pretty Lights-curated event was mostly a collection of ’80s dance hits led by the cast of players including Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff, Chance the Rapper, SZA, D.M.C., Reggie Watts, and Jamie Lidell.
But before the set could begin in proper, Jon Hamm and Zach Galifianakis commandeered the stage for a booming rendition of “We Are The World” and generally carrying over the goofy spirit of their comedy performance earlier in the day. Chance stopped by to perform “Juicy” and Bel Biv Devoe’s “Poison,” Antonoff offered renditions of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” and Talking Heads “Psycho Killer.” SZA then joined Antonoff for a duet on “Under Pressure.” D.M.C. broke out Run D.M.C.’s “Peter Piper” and “It’s Tricky.” And then to add to the total absurdity of the affair, Corey Feldman popped onstage during “Eye of the Tiger.”
