Chris Baio, the bassist for Vampire Weekend, is set to release his first solo album this fall as Baio. He released the pulsing first listen, “Brainwash yyrr Face,” when he announced The Names in May, but now he’s revealed a second, much more chill track. Baio describes “Sister of Pearl” as “a Bowie and Ferry-referencing throwback pop song” (via Pitchfork), but its straightforward and easygoing feel is elevated by a stuttering, harpsichord-sounding synth that lends the track an unusual, unexpected energy. Give it a listen, and look for The Names on September 18.
