Ryn Weaver has had a meteoric and well-deserved rise ever since dropping her debut song, “OctaHate,” almost a year ago, and now in the lead-up to the release of her first full album, The Fool, the singer has released a new video for her premiere track. She already released a video for “OctaHate” back in October, but announced on Twitter on Thursday that she “hated” the first video and decided to make a new one.
It’s probably the right call — the song is great, and while her initial attempt to visualize it had some cool scenes, it ultimately seemed like she was throwing a little too much at the wall at once — like something Marnie from HBO’s Girls would make.
The Griffin Frazen-directed redo, meanwhile, is elegant and playful, invoking the Baroque theme Weaver seems to be adopting for The Fool, and sees her having a food fight with co-star Hayley Kuniansky. Watch it above, and look for the LP on June 16.
So I hated my first Octahate video and decided to have a food fight with my best friend instead. Here it is. https://t.co/v7MQFoAHCH
