Malportado Kids Rail Against the Patriarchy on ‘Basta Huedo’

You can always count on Providence’s Victoria Ruiz to shout something politically salient, and the punk-rock heroine does so with her usual ire in Malportado Kids’ “Basta Huedo,” the lead single off of their forthcoming ten-inch EP, Total Cultura, out on June 2 via Dead Labour.

Against piercing horns, Ruiz — who is also the frontwoman in dance-punk project Downtown Boys — rapidly chants in Spanish, decrying the patriarchy (“Give me back / My f—ing land”), while drummer Norlan Olivo says his piece in a rapped verse towards the song’s blaring end. Listen to “Basta Huedo” below, and catch them on tour next month.
