Green Day Play Secret Show at Punk Venue 924 Gilman in Berkeley

Watch two fan-shot videos of the band performing "Basket Case" and "She"

Green Day played a secret benefit show last night at 924 Gilman, a volunteer-run Berkeley punk venue where the band got their start. Performing early hits like “Basket Case” and “She” (both of which appear on 1994’s Dookie, one of the 300 Best Albums of the Past 30 Years), the band was raising money for AK Press, an anarchist publishing company which recently suffered a warehouse fire. Also during the show, Rancid and Operation Ivy’s Tim Armstrong joined the trio to cover Op Ivy’s “Knowledge,” which some deep-cut nerds might recall as appearing on Green Day’s first record, 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Watch “Basket Case” above, and “She” below.
