First Aid Kit Treat ‘Letterman’ to Nostalgic Cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘America’

David Letterman’s final days at the Late Show are already plenty nostalgic, but last night, First Aid Kit serenaded the legendary host with an especially touching throwback — a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “America,” which Letterman used to sing to his son Harry when he was a baby. Letterman explained that he used to sing “America” and the late Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” until Harry was four, at which point, when asked which song he wanted to hear, the little tyke responded with “no song.” Kids can be brutal that way. Still, First Aid Kit’s dreamy rendition was soothing and delightful, and you can check it out above.
