Heems’ ‘Sometimes’ Video Hawks a Faux Skin-Whitening Paste

In Heems’ wildly entertaining new video for “Sometimes” — off the former Das Racist member’s recent solo project, Eat Pray Thug — the rapper takes things to their fullest comical effect by enlisting Broad City boyfriend Hannibal Buress and funnyman Eric Andre for a faux infomercial. Himanshu also wilds out in the snow and cavorts with people to whom he gifts the aptly titled “Sometimes” skin-lightening cream. The video could easily have slid along going for goofy, surface-only shots, but it’s a lastingly deep treatment of race issues in modern-day times. Watch it below.
