Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring Raps on Scallops Hotel’s ‘Lavender Chunk’

Future Islands‘ Samuel T. Herring has popped up on a couple of new tracks recently: He recently showed up on Du Blonde’s “Mind Is On My Mind,” and now he appears as “Hemlock Ernst” on Scallops Hotel’s “Lavender Chunk.” Herring’s part is subtle, and absent of his usual growl, but that baritone is unmistakable has he murmurs, “Brothers like me don’t live too long / That’s why I have to write so many rap songs” alongside Scallops.

Hear the track below, and look for Scallops’ forthcoming album, Plain Speaking, which drops on May 5 via Ruby Yacht/The Order Label.
