Eminem Annotated Dozens of His Songs for Genius

Like Rick Rubin and A-Trak before him, Eminem has joined Genius to annotate dozens of his songs along with several other interesting tracks by additional artists. In his 40 annotations, Slim Shady offers his take on the Tupac/Biggie war and talks about how personal “Lose Yourself” is (“I don’t know how to write about someone else’s life.” Because the movie is not me; the movie is Jimmy Smith Jr. So I’m playing this character, but I have to make parallels between my life and his, in this song. I gotta figure out how to reach a medium). He also discusses “My Name Is,” which SPIN named the fifth-best Eminem song of all time in our comprehensive list. Check out all of Em’s annotations on his Genius page.
