Sigur Ros Are Reissuing ‘Agætis byrjun’ as a Deluxe Limited-Edition Box Set

Ágætis byrjun, Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós released their sophomore album Ágætis byrjun 16 years ago, and they’re marking the anniversary by reissuing the record as a deluxe limited-edition box set. The Icelandic band is still finalizing the design and the specific extras they’re going to include, but according to a post on their website, the re-release will “feature previously unheard studio recordings and rare live versions from this pivotal period in the band’s development, as well as a welter of photographic and documentary material from their personal archives and plenty more besides.”

“It will be a beautiful thing to behold, and the last word in completist editions of Sigur Rós catalogue releases,” the post continues. There’s no exact release date yet — the post just suggests “early summer” — but you can watch a trailer for the release above.
