Let Synth-Rockers KNTRLR’s Debut Full Length ‘The Great Filter’ Take You Over

The post-punk duo's first album is a rush of hooks and energy

KNTRLR are Charles Davis and Michael Henry, a couple New York imports who bounced around various musical and non-musical ventures before meeting in the Russian Bath House on the Lower East Side in 2010. Their meeting was a serendipitous one, as the duo have united to create one of the early year’s more enjoyable throwback efforts: Debut album The Great Filter, a sparkling collection of synth and guitar-led gems. Pop hooks meet post-punk energy on songs like “CCA” and lead single “XXX,” and at just eight tracks, the album never risks overstaying its welcome.
