Katy Perry’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Was the Most-Watched in U.S. History

Katy Perry’s super-sized Super Bowl halftime show — featuring a giant mechanical lion, dancing sharks, and guest spots from Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz — received a viewership to match. Billboard is reporting that Super Bowl XLIX’s mid-game festivities on NBC earned a record 119.2 million viewers, which is 3.9 million more viewers than last year’s show starring Bruno Mars and an unplugged Red Hot Chili Peppers. That number also makes the halftime show the most-watched in U.S. television history. That probably deserves another shark dance, no?
