If you happened to be channel surfing last night, you might’ve taken a dip into “An Ocean in Between the Waves.” The War on Drugs, the band behind SPIN’s 2014 Album of the Year, dropped by the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to play the Lost in the Dream standout. Frontman Adam Granduciel and the rest of the Philadelphia group expertly rode the song’s deep, introspective lulls and intense, guitar-shredding, horn-blaring highs. (Mark Kozelek, mercifully, was nowhere to be seen.) Watch the performance above.
