Kelly Clarkson Pours Out Her ‘Heartbeat Song’

After teasing her comeback single on Twitter for the last week, Kelly Clarkson took the plunge and unleased her “Heartbeat Song.” Though it was set for release today, someone at iTunes pulled the trigger late last night, surprising even Clarkson herself.

“Heartbeat” is an uptempo, anthemic jam largely in harmony with many of the pop belter’s hits like “Already Gone” and “My Life Would Suck Without You.” There’s even a nudging lyrical reference to arguably her most popular single, “Since U Been Gone,” tucked into the new song’s bridge: “I can’t believe I ever breathed without you.” Time is, as they say, a flat circle.

The former American Idol winner remained largely absent from music in 2014 following the birth of her daughter, River Rose, though she did manage to sneak in a cover of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” into one of her concerts. Stream “Heartbeat Song” below or buy it on iTunes to relive the magic over and over.
