Connect Sessions Ep. 6 — Leaps of Faith

Not everyone is built for partnerships. Through the ages, many artists have reveled in the role of the lone wolf. Electronic musician Com Truise (née Seth Haley) was once that guy full-time, and multi-disciplinary artist CandyStations (née Deborah Johnson) instinctively retreats into that seclusion to repower. But being set up on an artistic blind date by the Connect Sessions powered by Microsoft has been an opportunity for both to stretch their creative and emotional spaces. You can hear the unadulterated joy in Johnson’s voice when she says, “These two things, images and sounds, are working together, and these two performers are getting along and their egos aren’t getting in the way — isn’t that nice?”

Deborah Johnson is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Foundation Art at Pratt Institute and Adjunct Professor of Graduate Live Performance Design at NYU.
