Jimmy Fallon and the Roots Fill in for U2 With ‘Desire’ Cover

Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, U2, Desire

Yesterday, it was announced that U2’s planned residency on the Tonight Show this week had been cancelled, due to Bono enduring a “cycling spill in Central Park,” knocking the frontman out of commission. These are the times when it helps a late show to have a house band that can cover just about anything and a host that loves doing impressions of singers with oversized personalities; hence, Fallon and the Roots performing U2’s Rattle and Hum classic “Desire,” complete with Fallon wearing Bono’s trademark cap and shades, and even doing a convincing job on the harmonica solo.

Watch above, and watch for Fallon and the Roots in residence all week  possibly as U2, possibly as themselves, possibly as the Quicksilver Messenger Service, why not  on the Tonight Show.
