U2 and Morrissey Both Played the Same Episode of Italian TV Yesterday

U2 Morrissey Italy RAI Songs of Innocence Performance

U2 has had a pretty untraditional rollout of their new album, Songs of Innocence. Unless you live in an unplugged world — in which case, how are you reading this? — the Irish rock icons unveiled the album for free on iTunes early last month, followed by a quiet vinyl release in order to qualify for the 2015 Grammy Awards.

One thing U2 hasn’t done much of, however, is live promotion. That changed over the weekend, thanks to an appearance by Bono and the Edge on Italy’s Che Tempo Che Fa. Performing on the same episode as Morrissey — who’s had quite a news-filled couple of months — U2’s leading men broke out an acoustic version of “The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)” (watch that above), as well as a visually stunning “Every Breaking Wave,” which is available on RAI’s website.

Meanwhile, Morrissey actually stopped dragging his record label through the mud to perform “The Bullfighter Dies,” a track from his most recent LP, World Peace Is None Of Your Business. It’s worth watching (via RAI) if only to see Moz crack a genuine smile at the end.
