Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight was arrested Wednesday and is facing life in prison following a run-in with a paparazzo last month. According to a Los Angeles County press release, Marion “Surge” Knight was with comedian Katt Williams outside a Los Angeles studio in September when they allegedly stole an “independent celebrity photographer’s” camera. Williams was arrested the morning of Wednesday, October 29 when he showed up in court for a separate assault case, and police found Knight in Las Vegas later that day.

Knight, who was shot six times at Chris Brown’s MTV VMAs party two weeks before the September 5 incident, has a previous conviction for assault with a deadly weapon. The District Attorney’s office announced in a statement that he could face 30 years to life in prison if found guilty due to his prior convictions. Williams could serve up to seven years.

TMZ spoke with Knight’s people, who claim that he and Williams didn’t steal anything, but were simply trying to prevent the overzealous photographer from filming Knight’s 4-year-old son. The producer’s booking photo, courtesy of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, is below.
